Hi I’m Bec, the founder of Bush Glitter.
Born and raised in the NSW Central Tablelands, I now call Walgett in the North West my home. My love of jewellery started at an early age. My mother proudly nicknames herself the ‘Bowerbird’ collector of all things shiny, which has resulted in an extensive collection of precious jewellery. However, I think it was my Grandma who had the most influence on my love for costume jewellery. I remember she had a large box of fashion jewellery she had collected over many years, most very inexpensive but no less fabulous than the shiny jewels of the Bowerbird.
Drought Drops started my acrylic earring venture; making and selling earrings shaped like water droplets, the proceeds shouting farmers a cuppa during the worst drought on record. Thankfully, the drought has broken but it certainly hasn't been smooth sailing - think many months of a mice plague, followed by flooding rains and all the critters and inconveniences that accompany such scenarios. Not to mention a new baby thrown in! Although I’m not one to romanticise the real difficulties we sometimes face, I love raising my family on the land. I'm lucky to be surrounded by country women who are resilient, resourceful, reliable and under all that bush glitter (aka dirt), they shine. And with that, Bush Glitter was born; inspired by the vibrant and varied lives of rural women.
